Mandt Training

Mandt Basics

As of October 1, 2014, network180 began using the Mandt System for crisis prevention and emergency physical intervention training.  This training took the place of the Working With People Positive Behavior Supports as well as the Emergency Physical Intervention.

The Mandt training is a three-part, three-day training.  Day 1 covers Relational skills, Day 2 focuses on Conceptual skills, and Day 3 covers Technical (physical) skills.  You must take the Mandt trainings in the numerical order listed: Day 1 and Day 2 should be taken as a block; Day 3 should be completed within 60 days of completing Day 2.

Mandt trainings must all be completed at the same organization/agency.  DO NOT split the trainings (Days 1, 2, 3) between training venues.

Mandt Recertification (Relational and Technical)

Mandt Recertification in Relational and Technical skills is designed for individuals currently certified in the Mandt System.  Annual recertification is required.

To maintain your Mandt Certification you must successfully complete a Mandt Recertification training before the expiration date on your Mandt Certification of Completion.  Note:  your certification expires on the last day of the month that you completed Mandt Day 2.   If your Mandt Certification expires, you must complete the 3 day Mandt (Relational, Conceptual and Technical) training. The Mandt Recertification training is offered in one day.

You may complete a Mandt re-certification at network180 or your current employer, even if you were not originally trained at network180 or your current employer.  However, you must provide documentation of your original certification in order to complete re-certification at an organization that is not where you were originally trained.

The morning session will include a review of Mandt Chapters 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9 and 10.   Students will have the opportunity to practice with the self-study test after each chapter review and then they are required to pass each chapter test with 100% proficiency.  The student must successfully complete the first session in the morning prior to attending the afternoon session.

The afternoon session will be a review of the Mandt technical skills.   This session will review all of the Mandt technical skills and students are expected to successfully demonstrate each of the technical skills.  If students are physically unable to complete portions of the technical skills training, they will not be certified for those skills.

If your employer determined that you did not need to be trained in Mandt technical (physical) skills (7,8,9, and 10), you do not need to be recertified in these skills, and you may leave after you have completed recertification requirements for Mandt Chapters 1,2, and 3.

If you were not originally trained in Mandt at network180, you may attend recertification at network180, but you MUST bring your original training certificates with you in order to participate in the network180 recertification class.  Individuals who were not originally trained at network180 and do not bring documentation of their original certification will be turned away.

A  Mandt Recertification certificate of completion will be provided upon successful completion of each session.
