New Regional Direct Support Staff Curriculum Launches January 2016

The Community Mental Health organizations making up the Lakeshore Regional Partners have adopted a universal, transferrable training curriculum for direct support staff working in licensed settings.  To increase options and accessibility, the majority of the trainings in this curriculum are available online.  Network180 providers can access online modules through the same learning management system that has been in use in Kent County: https://lakeshoretraining.org/network180.

Click here for an Overview of the Regional Curriculum for Direct Support Staff

Click here instructions on registration and how to use the online learning management system

At this point network180 will continue to offer classroom versions of all trainings using the same training names, though the frequency of classroom offerings will be reduced with the increased online options.

A crosswalk of the new Regional Curriculum and the former network180 Supportive Living Curriculum is below.  The biggest change relates to trainings for Medication Administration & Monitoring (formerly titled Basic Medications) and Health and Wellness (formerly titled Basic Health).  Starting in January 2016, these trainings will be primarily offered as a hybrid format training—learners will complete two online modules followed by a 3.5-hour face-to-face Medications/Health Skills Demonstration that covers both medications and vitals in one class.  The two online modules are Health & Wellness and Medication Administration and Monitoring; they must be completed BEFORE attending the classroom Skills Demonstration.  As noted, network180 will continue to offer the traditional 7-hour classroom trainings for these topics.  Learners should select EITHER the new hybrid format OR both full-length classroom classes—be sure to pay attention when registering for the classroom portion to make sure the correct option is selected.
